Exam Stress

shutterstock_184207580.jpg

The NSPCC has released figures which show that, in 2017/18, there were 1,298 Childline counselling sessions with children and teenagers related to exam stress, an increase of 15% on the previous year. Figures show that concern was highest in August 2017, with just under a quarter of all counselling sessions related to exam stress happening in the month when GCSE and A-Level results are published. Childline is urging young people worried about their GCSE and A-Level grades to contact the service for free, confidential support and advice, 24 hours a day on 0800 1111 or at www.childline.org.uk

Star GCSE results!

Congratulations to all of our GCSE students for an impressive set of results again this year. The numbers of A* and A grades were up on last year, so all our students will now move on to A levels.

A total picture of the results is complicated by the fact that some are on the old grading system (A*- G) while others follow the 9-1 new grading system.

A sample of some subject results (9-7 and A*-B ONLY) :

 –       Mathematics (9-7):           40%

–       English Literature (9-7): 50%

–       Physics (A*-B):                   66%

–       Chemistry (A*-B):              59%

–       History (A*-B):                   50%

–       Business Studies (A*-B): 71%

–       Geography (A*-B):             66%

–       French (A*-B):                    75%
